Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai in China will be closed in 2024

Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai (BNUZ, 北京师范大学珠海分校) in China stopped new student enrollment in 2021 and will be closed permanently in 2024.

BNUZ is located in Zhuhai, Guangdong province. It was jointly established in 2003 by Beijing Normal University (BNU, 北京师范大学) and the Zhuhai Municipal Government under the approval of the Ministry of Education of China. It is a private higher education institution focusing on undergraduate education.

In August 2017, the Guangdong Provincial Government, Zhuhai Municipal Government, and BNU jointly signed the Agreement on Co-construction of the Zhuhai Campus of Beijing Normal University to support BNU's use of the existing campus of BNUZ to build a new Zhuhai Campus of BNU (北京师范大学珠海校区). This means that as of 2024, BNUZ will no longer exist as its own institution, instead, it will become a campus belonging to the BNU.

BNU also promised that after BNUZ's closure, BNU will have corresponding institutes to protect the legal rights and interests of BNUZ graduates in accordance with the laws and regulations. It will also provide relevant certificates and transcripts services for BNUZ graduates for the purposes of postgraduate entrance examination, civil service examination, employment, and study abroad. In addition,  BNU will provide services for students who resume school and postpone their graduation and make sure these students have the opportunity to complete their studies after BNUZ's closure.
