Haiti struck by earthquake and tropical storm

On 14 August 2021, Haiti experienced a 7.2 magnitude earthquake. Although it was centered in a less densely-populated area than the devastating earthquake of 2010, this most recent earthquake has also caused extensive damage and loss of life.

Relief efforts have been complicated by heavy rain and winds from Tropical Storm Grace, which struck the country on 16 August.

Although it is too soon to know the full effects on education, including the ability to contact institutions and of students to obtain documents, the combined impact of these disasters on the educational sector (among others) is likely to be significant.
