Kazakhstan to introduce 12-year primary-secondary school system

According to the "One Hundred Steps on Five Institutional Reforms" developed by the Ministry of Education and Science, primary and secondary education in Kazakhstan is transitioning towards a 12-year system.  Along with the extra year of school education, curricular reforms are also envisioned.

Over 100 schools in the country began the work towards implementation of the reform on an experimental basis in 2015 with the new education standards for the 1st, 5th, 11th grades.  The remaining schools are to complete implementation by the year 2020.
