Students taking their GCSE exams in English Language, English Literature, and Mathematics this summer received their grades on a new 9-point scale. The remaining subjects are still assessed according to the traditional letter grade scale.
In the new grading system, fewer 9 grades will be awarded than the traditional A grades. The new GCSE content is meant to be more challenging. Additional 20 subjects will be graded on the new scale in 2018.
