Professional master's degree introduced for French teachers

The French Ministry of Education is introducing a professional master's degree qualification for holders of CAPES - certificat d’aptitude au professorat de l’enseignement du second degré (Certificate of Aptitude for Secondary School Level Teaching). The new qualification is aimed at improving teaching skills of secondary school teachers. It is likely that it will become the preferred qualification for teacher recruitment in the future.

Tentatively named master professionnel dans les sciences de l’éducation (Professional Master in Educational Sciences)  will be a two-year program consisting of 30% theoretical training at a university and 70% pedagogical training gained through secondary school teaching experience.
