National Academic Depository (NAD) established in India

In October 2016, the Ministry of Human Resource Development of India, in connection with the University Grants Commission (UGC), approved the establishment of the National Academic Depository (NAD), expected to be rolled out in 2017-2018. The NAD is intended to be an online storehouse of academic awards to facilitate access to and verification of the awards.

Awards to be covered under NAD include certificates, degrees, diplomas, mark sheets, and transcripts.

Academic institutions are responsible for the authenticity of data that they upload to the system. Third parties may register to verify student qualifications through NAD. Requests for verification of awards will require the student's consent.

Additional information can be found at http://nad.gov.in/about.html and https://nad.ndml.in/nad-home.html.
