Morocco to introduce new universities in 2023

The Delegate Minister in charge of Higher Education and Scientific Research recently announced plans to open 21 new universities by 2023.


The universities will belong to the public sector and will have "merit-based" admission.  Last year, the government opened 11 new universities, making the total of newly established universities more than 40 in just 4 years.  


The Moroccan government is also interested in increasing the number of private institutions throughout the country, but there are currently no plans in place to achieve this objective.
