Two Private Higher Education Institutions Closed in Burundi

In September 2010, the Burundian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research ordered closures of two private higher education institutions: Institut Supérieur Technique Commercial et Economique (ISTCE) and Institut Supérieur de Management (ISM, ex-ISGM). Both institutions are subject to Congolese law and have not obtained proper authorization to operate in Burundi. In addition, distance-learning programs offered by ISM lacked conformity with the Burundian legislation.
