Indonesian Ministry of Education has developed a new curriculum in 2013 and is currently in its early stages of implementation.
The new curriculum includes a few new features that are intended to provide greater flexibily in student choices.
Computer/IT classes will not be required. Instead, students can learn the skills outside of classroom.
Weekly hours for the cience subjects (mathematics, physics, biology and chemistry) and religion have been increased by 1 hour.
Students will no longer be streamed in single majors. They will have an option to select a major and up to two cross-major subjects as soon as they enter senior high school.
