Moroccan Teacher’s Training Center Diploma Evolution

In Morocco, Teacher Training Centers prepare teachers for the First Cycle of Basic Education (grades 1-5 before 1985, extended to grades 1-6 after 1991). Admission to the program prior to 1980 was based on incomplete secondary education, while since 1980 the Baccalaureate has become the minimum admission requirement.

Teacher’s Training Center Diploma (Diplôme de Centre de Formation des Instituteurs) represents either one or two years of study, depending on the time period:
~ one year if between 1956 and 1970, or after 1980
~ two years if between 1970 and 1980

Although relevé de notes (grade report) may not be available for older programs, the following list of subjects represents the general curricular standard for the diploma: Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Educational Psychology, Teaching Methodology, School Law, and Practice Teaching.
