Nigerian WAEC offers third party verification

Sidmach Technologies, the company in charge of online verification for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in Nigeria, recently began accepting online payments so that universities, institutions, and other third parties can verify candidate results independently. The service is known as WAEC Verify.

A scratch card (also known as an access card) can be purchased in Nigeria for approximately $2 USD and can be used a limited number of times (generally 5) in order to confirm results in the WAEC database. The scratch card system uses military-grade encryption to secure the results stored in the database.

Previous to this update, a scratch card could not be purchased overseas by an outside party.  Now, international payments are accepted online via https://www.waeconline.org.ng/verification/.

Institutions have the option of purchasing individual PIN numbers to verify single results or creating an account.  Once an account has been established, institutions can make bulk purchases. Bulk verification can be integrated with an existing API. To learn more about this service, or to request an API integration with your portal, email waecverify@waec.org.ng
