Program information for the Diplôme d'Ingénieur in Benin and Senegal

The 2021 TAICEP Conference webinar Education Systems of Benin and Senegal (presented by Iphie Pysarenko & Sarah Ledwidge, ICAS) provided program information for the Diplôme d'Ingénieur (Diploma of Engineer) in the countries of Benin and Senegal.

In both Benin and Senegal, admission to the Diplôme d'Ingénieur requires the Baccalauréat, with advanced standing possible based on a prior 2-3 year credential in a relevant field. Most of the current programs are 5 years in duration; 2 years of preparatory, followed by 3 years of specialization.

In Benin, the award may not specifically be in engineering. They can also be in other fields such as medical technology, agronomy, etc.

In Senegal, the award may also be called Diplôme d'Ingénieur de Conception to distinguish it from the Diplôme d'Ingénieur d'Exécution.
