Brazil e-MEC National Register of Higher Education Courses and Institutions Register

Utilize the e-MEC Cadastro Nacional de Cursos e Instituições de Educação Superior (National Register of Higher Education Courses and Institutions) to search for accredited institutions and programs.

There are two ways to search:

1. Navigate to e-MEC and select the Consulta Textual tab at the top of the page.
2. Choose the search field from the drop-down menu on the left, usually "nome ou sigla" works best for an institution name search.
3. Enter the name of the institution in the box on the right.
4. Click Pesquisar to search. A list of institutions matching your search terms will be displayed. See below for more options.

OR:

1. Select the Consulta Avançada tab at the top of the page. 
2. You can search (Buscar por:) by Instituição de Ensino Superior (Institution of Higher Education), or by Curso (Course).
3. Click Pesquisar to search. A list of institutions matching your search terms will be displayed.

Once the institutions matching your search terms are displayed, click on the name of the institution to display additional information:

• Click the Ato Regulatório tab to display the date the institution was Credenciamento (Accredited) or Recredenciamento (Reaccredited). This can also be used to confirm the date of an institutional name change (Alteração de Nomenclatura da IES).
• Click the Graduação tab to display information about undergraduate programs offered, and Especialização for information about post-graduate specialist programs.
• Does not include information on master's or doctoral programs
